Mohamed and Khaled met over 20 years ago in Cairo, Egypt, and have been very good friends ever since. They work well together and have everyone’s interests at heart. They have decided to work together and are very excited to promote the Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival for the first time in September 2025.
They want to present to the world and the UK some of the best Oriental Dance Instructors that the Bellydance world has today so that everyone can benefit and learn from them, especially the London Oriental Dance community!

Meet the Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival, Founders, and Producers;

MOHAMED SHAHIN

Mohamed Shahin is an inspirational instructor, world-renowned instructor, performer, and challenging choreographer of Egyptian Oriental Dance (Raqs Sharqi) and Middle Eastern Folkloric Dance.

A native of Cairo, Egypt and originally trained as a mechanical engineer, Shahin discovered his passion for Egyptian Dance at the young age of fifteen. Shahin developed a complex methodology of instruction that has made him a Master Teacher beloved to his students worldwide, Shahin currently lives in New York City but has been touring the world full-time since 2004. 

At Shahin’s workshops, students fall in love with his friendly personality, knowledge, and his level of perfectionism and fine attention to detail that sets him apart as an instructor of Middle Eastern dances. 

He is a Master Teacher / Choreographer of Classical, Traditional, and Modern Oriental (Raqs Sharqi), Baladi, Cairo style Shaabi, and the rest of the Egyptian Folklore Dance. His explanations of technical breakdowns of the body isolations, movements, and combinations that make up his elaborate and challenging choreographies, Shahin’s talent and expertise have taken him around the world to teach workshops, perform and judge international dance competitions in major dance Festivals around the world, throughout North America, South America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa.

Shahin is not only an acclaimed Master Oriental dance Instructor but also a Producer, boasting an impressive portfolio of prestigious events. His notable productions include:

– Cleopatra Fest and DLAE Intensive Week (Cairo, Egypt) – Founder and Producer
– NYCairo Festival (New York City) – Founder and Producer

Shahin has now expanded his expertise to the UK, serving as Co-Founder and Co-Producer of Pharaoh Shimmies London, further solidifying his position as a leading figure in the world of Oriental dance.

He also has released many critically acclaimed music albums specifically made and composed for Bellydance, renowned for their exceptional quality and authenticity. These albums have become a staple in the global Bellydance community.

Furthermore, Shahin has created the highly regarded “Dance Like An Egyptian” instructional DVD series. This comprehensive resource provides invaluable guidance for dancers studying Egyptian dance, particularly those unable to attend Shahin’s workshops. Through these DVDs, dancers worldwide can benefit from Shahin’s expertise and deepen their understanding of this captivating dance form.

Shahin’s impressive skillset is further enhanced by his proficiency in three languages: Arabic, English, and Russian. This unique ability enables him to effectively instruct and communicate with students from diverse linguistic backgrounds, fostering a more inclusive and personalized learning experience.

KHALED MAHMOUD

Khaled Mahmoud is a native Egyptian and raised in Egypt who moved to live in the United Kingdom in 2001.

Khaled is a Master Oriental Dance teacher/choreographer and star performer in Egypt and around the world. He is able to pass on his extensive knowledge and experience as an Egyptian Oriental Dance teacher/dancer, Egyptian music theory and Dance Culture knowledge. He is patient, logical, efficient, masterful and able to deliver consistently high results in all his teaching courses and performances in an ever-changing world of Oriental dance.

He also has knowledge in body dynamics and of the proper use of muscles and movements.

Mr. Khaled concentrates strictly on Egyptian Oriental Dance, Culture, and Music.

As a world-renowned Oriental dance artist and educator, Khaled has established himself as a leading figure in the global dance community. With a career spanning numerous continents, he has traveled around the world extensively to share his expertise in Oriental dance and Egyptian culture.

Throughout his illustrious career, Khaled has taught workshops and masterclasses at prestigious international dance festivals, instructing students in intricate body movements, choreographies, and techniques. His dedication to preserving and promoting traditional Egyptian dance has earned him recognition as a respected authority in the field.

In addition to his teaching and performance endeavors, Khaled has also served as a senior adjudicator at numerous dance competitions, providing expert feedback and guidance to aspiring dancers. His collaborations with live musicians have further solidified his reputation as a versatile and accomplished artist.

Terms and conditions:

I understand that the study of dance has inherent risks and may cause physical injury. I am fully aware of the risks and hazards involved. Attendance in Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival classes, rehearsals, or activities may result in physical exertion and cause unforeseen risks and injury. I hereby release, discharge, and agree to hold harmless Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival, its legal representatives or assignees, and all persons acting under its permission or authority from any liability whatsoever for any and all claims of any nature that may arise out of my attendance in movement classes, rehearsals, or activities to be held at the festival’s venue.

In case of emergency, I give my permission to be transported to a hospital and treated by a medical professional.
My signature is voluntary and implies a complete understanding of this form. By submitting this form, I acknowledge that if I’m hurt or my property is damaged or missing during participation in any activity, I waive my right to maintain a lawsuit against Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival, its affiliates, representatives and personnel.

I grant Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival permission to make video, film, photographs, or any other images of my involvement in Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival activities for promotional purposes only without compensation to me.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:

Please note that all deposits for Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival are non-refundable. Additionally, a 4% transaction fee will be applied to the total amount paid. This fee will be added on top of your payment

In the event of a medical or other emergency, participants may be eligible to transfer their admission to the following year’s festival. However, this transfer must be facilitated by the Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival management team in order to be considered valid.

To initiate this process, please contact us directly at info@pharaohshimmies.com. We will review each request on a case-by-case basis and provide further instructions on how to proceed.

By registering for the festival, participants acknowledge that they understand and agree to this refund and cancellation policy.”

Force Majeure

Any delay or failure in the performance by Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival management hereunder shall be excused if and to the extent caused by the occurrence of a Force Majeure. For purposes of this Agreement, Force Majeure shall mean a cause or event that is not reasonably foreseeable or otherwise caused by or under the control of the Party claiming Force Majeure, including but not limited to; acts of God, fires, lockdown, viruses spreading, floods, explosions, riots, wars, hurricane, sabotage terrorism, vandalism. accident, restraint of government, governmental acts, injunctions, labor strikes, obtaining visas for Master Instructors or sickness of said instructors other than those, and other like events that are beyond the reasonable anticipation and control of the Party affected thereby, despite such Party’s reasonable efforts to prevent, avoid, delay, or mitigate the effect of such acts, events or occurrences, and which events or the effects thereof are not attributable to a Party’s failure to perform its obligations under this Agreement.
