5 or more years of experience in Oriental Dance.

Competition Eligibility and Guidelines

To participate in any Pharaoh Shimmies competition, you must register for at least one full-day package of Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival workshops.

Competition Details:

Style: Choose one of the following three styles to perform: Oriental (Modern or Classic), Shaabi, or Baladi. Note: These styles are not separate categories.
Judging Criteria: Our judges will evaluate your performance based on your interpretation of your chosen style performance.
Props: Only veils and zills are permitted.
Time Limit: 3.5 minutes (maximum 4 minutes)

Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria and adhere to these guidelines to participate in the competition.

Competitions Schedule and Format

QUEEN CLEOPATRA Category (Two Rounds)

Round 1: Friday, September 11th @ 7:30 pm

Perform a song of your choice, adhering to the Competition Guidelines (timing and style).
Our esteemed judges will select the top 7 finalists, announced at the end of the Opening Show.

Song Selection for Round 2

Immediately after the finalists’ announcement, finalists will select their songs for the 2nd Round through a lottery system, choosing from one of the 8 songs listed below. You will receive these 8 songs via email in MP3 format approximately one month before the event starts.

The QUEEN CLEOPATRA Category winners will be announced during the Superstar Gala show.

PRINCESS OF LONDON Category (One Round)

Friday, September 11th @ 7:30 pm

Music: Select a song of your choice, ensuring it adheres to the Competition Guidelines regarding timing and style.
Time Limit: 3.5 minutes (maximum 4 minutes).
After registering for the competition, you will receive a link to upload your music selection approximately one month before the festival's opening day.

Winners Announcement: The winners will be announced on the same night as the competition.

General Conduct and Code of Behavior:

Participants must wear a proper dance garment, including undergarments.
Participants must use cover-up before and after the competition.
Refrain from discussing the competition results with the judges, all rulings are final.
Contestants will conduct themselves at all times positively and professionally.
The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any contestant whose behavior is intrusive or disruptive to other contestants, the judges, or the audience.
Contestants agree to abide by all rules & procedures and accept the judging results as final.

Important Notice

Responsibility and Accountability

Each competitor is solely responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of the information they provide. The organizers do not verify the background of competitors.

Failure to comply with the requirements and rules may result in disqualification from the competition at the organizers’ discretion. This decision can be made at any time during or after the festival, and may also lead to stripping any winnings and titles.

Constructive Criticism

Upon request contestants will be provided by the judges of their general comments regarding their show. These comments will highlight the good qualities as well as the qualities that need to be improved upon.

I understand that the study of dance has inherent risks and may cause physical injury. I am fully aware of the risks and hazards involved. Attendance in Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival classes, rehearsals, or activities may result in physical exertion and cause unforeseen risks and injury. I hereby release, discharge, and agree to hold harmless Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival, its legal representatives or assignees, and all persons acting under its permission or authority from any liability whatsoever for any and all claims of any nature that may arise out of my attendance in movement classes, rehearsals, or activities to be held at the festival’s venue.

In case of emergency, I give my permission to be transported to a hospital and treated by a medical professional.
My signature is voluntary and implies a complete understanding of this form. By submitting this form, I acknowledge that if I’m hurt or my property is damaged or missing during participation in any activity, I waive my right to maintain a lawsuit against Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival, its affiliates, representatives and personnel.

I grant Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival permission to make video, film, photographs, or any other images of my involvement in Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival activities for promotional purposes only without compensation to me.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:

Please note that all deposits for Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival are non-refundable. Additionally, a 4% transaction fee will be applied to the total amount paid. This fee will be added on top of your payment

In the event of a medical or other emergency, participants may be eligible to transfer their admission to the following year’s festival. However, this transfer must be facilitated by the Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival management team in order to be considered valid.

To initiate this process, please contact us directly at info@pharaohshimmies.com. We will review each request on a case-by-case basis and provide further instructions on how to proceed.

By registering for the festival, participants acknowledge that they understand and agree to this refund and cancellation policy.”

Force Majeure

Any delay or failure in the performance by Pharaoh Shimmies London Festival management hereunder shall be excused if and to the extent caused by the occurrence of a Force Majeure. For purposes of this Agreement, Force Majeure shall mean a cause or event that is not reasonably foreseeable or otherwise caused by or under the control of the Party claiming Force Majeure, including but not limited to; acts of God, fires, lockdown, viruses spreading, floods, explosions, riots, wars, hurricane, sabotage terrorism, vandalism. accident, restraint of government, governmental acts, injunctions, labor strikes, obtaining visas for Master Instructors or sickness of said instructors other than those, and other like events that are beyond the reasonable anticipation and control of the Party affected thereby, despite such Party’s reasonable efforts to prevent, avoid, delay, or mitigate the effect of such acts, events or occurrences, and which events or the effects thereof are not attributable to a Party’s failure to perform its obligations under this Agreement.
